Most general sessions run on PowerPoint or Keynote; this one ran on a presentation system the client’s own team had built.

A senior engineer on that team had built it himself — cloud-based presentation content management with custom presentation control, a countdown timer and messaging to the confidence monitor — and he was also one of the presenters.

It was the first bespoke, client-built presentation system I had run.

The work sat in the V2 position — the graphics operator’s seat, where every presentation and playback source is prepared and fired. In preparation for the show, ideas went back and forth between that seat and the developer, and he iterated on the product in real time. The operator’s view of the tool became part of how the tool was built.

An unfamiliar system gets the same protection as a familiar one.

The presentation ran on two independent machines, primary and backup, each a live input the switcher can take on demand, alongside a backup video playback machine and a dedicated Zoom machine.
